2017 District 6 Legislative Breakfast

The Alabama Chapter of the National Emergency Number Association in conjunction with the Alabama 9-1-1 Board held its first legislative breakfast on April 5th. Designed to give legislators an opportunity to meet with 9-1-1 representatives from their area, the breakfast targeted U.S. House District 6. A lively discussion was held concerning Next Generation 9-1-1 and how Alabama intends to implement a statewide emergency services network that will tie all public safety answering points together and ensure that information is seamlessly transferred from caller to responder. State 9-1-1 Board Executive Director Leah Missildine shared her thoughts on steps that need to be taken to achieve maximum utilization of this network and Alabama NENA President Caleb Branch expanded on potential uses for this platform in an ever-changing digital age. More legislative breakfasts are plan during the next session - each held at the district level.
