Nominees must have been employed in the applicable category by a public safety agency any time between October 1, 2017 and September 30, 2018.  Nominees must be a resident of the U.S. and a resident of the State of Alabama. Nominee, nominator or sponsoring agency must be a member of NENA to be eligible for an award.

Sample Responsibilities Functions as a front line supervisor of Telecommunications personnel, whether actual operations or in a support function.

1. Supervises Telecommunicators in their role as call processors or dispatchers or both.

2. Manages available resources (personnel, systems, etc.) to get the job done, whether daily routine or during emergencies and disasters.

3. Manages and interfaces with multiple levels within and outside their chain of command.

4. Knowledgeable of systems and procedures associated with Emergency Communications.

5. Practices both decision making and multitasking skills.

6. Able to provide mentoring and management of personnel to get commitment to the job and the goals of the shift/office/agency.

7. Resolves personnel disputes and rule infractions tactfully and expediently.
